On Tuesday, December 12, Salem Elementary had the opportunity to visit Salem Hills HIgh School where they enjoyed a performance by the high school's choir.  Students look forward to these occasions, as many of them know and look up to several of the choir members, and love hearing the fun Christmas songs.

On the night of November 16, 5th graders at Salem Elementary were on station and ready to come to life to present their annual “Night at the Museum” for parents and the community. This culminating activity had started a month and a half earlier, as each fifth grade student chose a famous person from history and then researched so they could do a biographical account on their famous person.

Every year it is a tradition for Salem Elementary to hold a Turkey Gobbling contest. There are three categories, strut, gobbler, and combo. The winners and participants of the strut and gobbler received a candy bar while the winners of the combo received a pumpkin pie! They are judged by grade level.  We definitely had a great time this year!!

After listening to and Aesop's fable, fourth graders made paper mitt puppets and wrote an original script where characters experienced a simple problem in a unique setting. Students enjoyed presenting their puppet show to their classmates.  Thanks to our GAINS specialist from the district, Mrs. Bean, for sharing this fun idea with our students!
