Sixth Grade Celebrates World Hunger Day

Submitted by dorie.thatcher on Tue, 11/27/2018 - 11:39

Sixth Grade celebrated World Hunger Day, and it is one of the best days of the year.  Students are separated into continents and given their actual share of the land mass, money, and food of their area.  It is shocking and impacful.  North America gets spoiled, Europe gets a good share, Asia is confined in a small space, and Africa doesn't get much of anything.  At first students feel angry and later they always feel compassionate.  It's a special day I wish everyone could experience.  Instead of sharing photos, students wanted to share their journal entries.  Enjoy!

Fifth Grade Night at the Museum

On the night of November 15, 5th graders at Salem Elementary were on station and ready to come to life to present their annual “Night at the Museum” for parents and the community. This culminating activity had started a month and a half earlier, as each fifth grade student chose a famous person from history and then researched so they could do a biographical account on their famous person.
