Submitted by dorie.thatcher on Tue, 05/22/2018 - 14:45

Fourth graders had the privilege of having Seth Sorensen, from the district office, bring some fossils from his own collection to show and talk about.  It was an awesome way to review for end of year testing, but most of all really fun and interesting

The fifth graders in Nebo School District participated in a Freedom Walk sponsored by the American Legion.  During the freedom walk, students visited various stations and were taught about respecting the flag, they were able to visit with an Air Force pilot, and learn what it was like to be in the Navy.  Students were also able to display a picture of a friend and/or family memeber that they know that has served our country. We are so thankful for the opportunity to learn from these veterans and we thank them for their service!

STEM Time

Mrs. Thatcher's class took a little break from all the review and end of year testing to participate in a fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Activity.  Students were given craft sticks, binder clips, and clothes pins and asked to use their ceativity and problem solving skills to design a bridge and a tower.  The end goal was to design a bridge that could hold up to 40 lbs., which most groups did, and another goal was to build the highest free standing tower.  Students did a great job and had a lot of fun too!

Wild Wonders Field Trip

Submitted by dorie.thatcher on Fri, 05/04/2018 - 14:48

Kindergarten went on a field trip to Wild Wonders in Genola! They learned about different animal skin coverings with a hedgehog (hair), chinchilla (fur), bearded dragon (scales), and cockatoo (feathers). They also got to pet a skunk and a ringtail cat from Southern Utah, and meet Coco the bid and make feathers like his. It was a blast to ride the bus, learn about animals, and enjoy lunch on a beautiful sunny day.
