Mrs. Thatcher's Hatchers

Students in Mrs. Thatcher's second grade class had the opportunity to incubate chicken and button quail eggs as they learned about the basic needs of animals and how external features affect an animals' ability to survive.  Students were very excited when the chicks hatched from the eggs after 21 days.  Students were able to care for the chicks for a few days in class, and then some students were even able to take them home.  It was a great learning experience for all.

Mother's Day

Jamie Rolfe visited her sons' classes and brought a special surprise with her from her family owned business, Olson's Greenhouse.  She brought enough flowers and soil for students in Mrs. James and Mrs. Thatcher's class, as well as Mr. Stutz class to plant flower pots for their moms for Mother's Day.  She also taught the students how to grow and take care of their plants.  We so much appreciate the generosity of Jamie, and Olson's Greenhouse, for providing such a wonderful opportunity for students.

3rd and 4th Hershey Track

On Tuesday, April 30, Salem Elementary third and fourth-graders attended the Hershey Track Meet at Salem Hills High School.  They competed against the other elementary schools in Salem.  Salem Stars gave an outstanding performance with several students placing in the many of the finals.
