Penguins in Mrs. Hooley's Class

Submitted by pam.lynn on

Mrs. Hooley's class is practicing to be penguins.  We read a story all about penguins and how they take care of their eggs.  We did an activity with tennis balls where the students had to walk to the next person in line and pass the tennis ball to their feet only using one finger, like it was a penguin beak, and without touching the ground.  It was a challenge!

Love is in the Air

Love is in the air in Mrs. Hooley's 2nd grade class.  The students had fun giving "Heart Attacks" to different people in the school.  They made heart fingerprint magnets, stacked conversation hearts with chopsticks, and passed out their valentines to the class.  What a perfect way to spend Valentine's day in school!

Students made thermoses for our end of 6.2 strand project! We used knowledge about conductors and insulators to construct them. Then we tested our prototypes to see how well our designs worked.

All About Penguins

Submitted by pam.lynn on

In kindergarten we learned all about penguins. We huddled together as penguins do to stay warm in a storm. We put eggs on our feet as some penguins do to keep eggs warm till they hatch. We measured ourselves to a life size Emperor Penguin. We wrote information we learned about penguins and did a penguin art project. We even made up penguin dances.
