And action! Mrs. Bean, our district drama specialist, visited our classes today at Salem Elementary to show us how we can connect drama and reading. It really made reading fun and meaningful!
Strike, spare, gutter-ball! Mrs. Hooley's 2nd graders spent the afternoon doing subtraction bowling. The students rolled a tennis ball at red plastic cups and subtracted the number of cups they knocked down from 10. Fun was had by all, as well as a little math practice.
Salem Elementary Family Carnival and Auction was held on Monday night, and what a fun night it was. The parking lot was filled with food trucks and the field was field with several games and activities. There were carnival games, bounce houses, an obstacle course, balloon twisters, raffle items, and the auction. The classroom basket auction was a success and raised quite a bit of money for our school. We would like to thank all those who donated to the themed baskets, and also to those who purchased them.
Kindergarten had a party to celebrate the end of summer. They sorted bugs, painted, marched, and had a campfire. They ended the party with a fun family picnic.
