Red Ribbon Week

Last week was Red Ribbon week at Salem Elementary! Red Ribbon Week is a week long effort in which everyone at school shows their support of being drug free by wearing a red ribbon (or bracelet). Several activities were planned throughout the week to help students learn the importance of living a drug free life.
Monday: Love Yourself, Be Drug Free/Wear Red Day
Fourth graders walked to Salem City Cemetary. While in the cemetary students participated in several learning activities.
Second graders visit Salem's Heritage Park where they learned about the community of Salem then and now. They learned about the first settlers of Salem and how they lived. They were able to walk through an old log home and see the old Salem School bell.
Fourth graders learned about the water cycle. They learned how we get the water we use and why it is important to keep it clean.
Second Graders had the opportunity to visit the city office. They learned about City Council and how they work to help our community a better place.
Fourth-graders used salt dough to make maps of Utah's physical features including mountains, deserts, lakes, and rivers. Thanks to our parents for supporting us in this by providing the salt dough!
Mrs. Van Ausdal's kindergarten class took a tour of the school kitchen for "K" week. Mrs. Davis was our guide.
