Mrs. Larson's class had fun celebrating PI day at school.  A student wanted to teach the class what 3.14 PI was and brought two delicious pies to share. We were very excited and grateful! Here is a cute picture of our class enjoying the pies.

Fifth Grade Science Fair

Fifth-graders at Salem Elementary recently participated in the Fifth Grade Science Fair.  Science fairs are a great way for students to take an active role in science. Fifth-graders used the Scientific Method to help them in understanding and expanding their knowledge of a specific science topic of their choice.  Many hours were spent researching and developing their presentations.  Students were able to present their scientific findings to students at the school during the day, and then to their parents later that evening.

Ballet West

Salem Elementary had the pleasure of welcoming Ballet West to our school last Friday.  Ballet West is a professional ballet company located in Salt Lake City and ranks amongst the top companies in America.

Student's were amazed with the dancers' abilities, and their performance from the Nutcracker entertained the captive audience the entire time.  But that's not all.  Students were educated about the history of ballet, about some of the movements and positions used in ballet, and some students were even called up onstage for a quick lesson on leaps and spins.

Fourth Grade Hoedown

Oh Johnny Oh! and the Boot Scootin' Boogie were just a few of the dances that fourth graders shared with their parents at their Fourth Grade Hoedown Dance Night.   A lot of smiles were seen while both students and parents tore it up on the dance floor with a little heel toing and doce doeing.  It was a much anticipated event and ended up being a very special night indeed.

Magic Show

The weather is changing, and schedules get busy this time of year.   Sponsered by Ken Garff Road to Success, a magic show was brought to Salem Elementary, and what better way is there to motivate and remind students to keep up with their reading than a magic show!  Students were awed with the tricks, and some students even got to participate.  A good reminder that reading can be magical.
