Fourth-graders had a blast on their field trip a couple of weeks ago. They went ice skating at Peaks Ice Arena and then attended a show at Bean Museum where they learned about the ecosystems in Utah. It was a fun way to build character and friendships, as well as review the plants, animals, and environments of Utah.

Miss Soto was born and raised in Provo, Utah. She graduated from Timpview High School in 2009. She is an only child.
Some of her favorite things to do is to go running, especiially with friends. She loves to go to plays and is a huge BYU sports fan. She had BYU basketball season tickets last year and is now hooked.
Miss Soto graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Eduation from UVU in 2013. We feel so lucky to have her at our school and appreciate all she does for our students at Salem Elementary.
On Friday, April 14, Mia Carlos and Grace Neves, both in Mr. Vest's 5th Grade class, won 1st place in BYU's "K12 Student Innovator of the Year" contest and an award of $1,000. Their innovation , which they have been working on for the last few weeks, is a concept for an phone app that would incentivize practicing, e.g., practicing piano, softball, etc., for kids and track their progress.
Well done and congrats to these outstanding Salem STARS!
