Fifth-graders at Salem Elementary recently participated in the Fifth Grade Science Fair. Science fairs are a great way for students to take an active role in science. Fifth-graders used the Scientific Method to help them in understanding and expanding their knowledge of a specific science topic of their choice. Many hours were spent researching and developing their presentations. Students were able to present their scientific findings to students at the school during the day, and then to their parents later that evening.
First and second graders had the opportunity of having Dr. Fossil Rock, Rocky, Dudley, and Daisy come to our school to teach them the importance of taking care of their teeth. Students were also taught the proper way to take care of teeth. Thank you to the volunteers for this fun puppet show!
Salem Elementary students are given the challenge to work on academic and personal goals throughout the year. When students complete the required number of goals, students are awarded the Star Award during a school assembly, the first of which was held on January 24th. During the assembly we were priveleged to hear Hannah and Lydia Wright perform on their cellos. Congratulations to those who earned the Super Star Award
Val-O-Grams will be going on February 12th-14th. Please be sure to come to school early so that you have enough time to buy, fill out, and sort your Val-O-Grams before school starts. PTA helpers will be there to help students fill out the Val-O-Grams more quickly. Parents are also welcome to come and help their child.
