Salem Elementary students are given the challenge to work on academic and personal goals throughout the year.  When students complete the required number of goals, students are awarded the Super Star Award during a school assembly, the first of which was held on January 27th.   To show an example of hard work and dedication of working towards a goal,  Brynn and Ty performed on their violins during the assembly.  Congratulations to those who earnied the Super Star Award.

On the last day of school before Christmas Break, Salem Elementary students gathered together to celebrate Christmas and reading.  Each grade level performed a Christmas song that they had been learning and practicing in Miss Priday's music class.  Between each performance a drawing was held to reward students who had earned and turned in their reading tickets.  Students whose names were drawn got to pick a prize from underneath the Christmas tree.  At the end of the assembly a grand prize drawing for two two stuffed animals, two remote control cars, and two bikes was held.

Random Acts of Kindness

This month the students from Miss Holthaus' class were encouraged to bring joy to others during this holiday by doing random acts of kindness for those around them. Their goal was for each student to do at least one anonymous kind act for a family member, neighbor, or friend each day this month. Each act of kindness was written down and added to their class chain of kindess that was displayed in their classroom. It was so much fun seeing how many people in their community they could help by being kind. It was also a good way for students to experience the joy of serving others.
